I notice that the library can get very loud during the day, and many of us need computer access in the library to study. Some of us need quiet when we are doing our work or studying. I really enjoy the small computer lab in the library when I need to get away from the noise, but when people talk and laugh loud it echos and is incredibly distracting. I was wondering if the library would consider making the small computer room a quiet room to accommodate people (and there are many) like myself. Understandably it would not be as quiet as upstairs, but people could be more productive and effectively concentrate to better retain study material.

It's a good idea. We did consider this a while ago, but thought that it would be impossible to enforce a quiet zone on the main floor. It can get quite noisy with students working in groups just outside that small room. It's worth rethinking, though, and maybe we'll give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion!
